UNITED STATES — With increasing concerns about the security of the Internet, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has proposed a new bill aimed at combating global cyber criminals. The Cybersecurity Act of 2012 was introduced to the Senate Tuesday night.
The legislation would create protocols to combat cybercrimes, and establish a consistent foreign policy when it comes to cybercrime. The measure would also require the State Department, for the first time, to clearly identify growing cyber threats and develop a strategy for dealing with foreign threats.
The act proposes boosting foreign aid to countries that need help thwarting attacks and creating possible sanctions against governments that do not cooperate with investigations. source
