Security researches are noticing an increase in phishing email scams. Please be careful when you click on links, especially during the holiday season. Here is a good example of a Phishing scam. This Paypal scam seems to resurface every 5-6 month or so, but it is especially successful during the holidays. Here’s how it works… You will get an email asking you to login to your Paypal account (if you have one) and confirm a few details.
Sounds convincing doesn’t it. It even has the “https:” that indicates a secure website. The scam is good. No worries, if your suspicion is not triggered here, there are a big clue in the next step of this scam.
Now, stop right here! You should notice that you are not on the Paypal website. Paypal’s website will end in “Paypal.com” Always… well, unless the DNS server has been hacked but that’s another discussion and a much more complicated hack. Nonetheless, this simple scam shouldn’t fool you at all. You’re too smart for this one.
